Depends. If price doesn't matter, I think a new LCD, since it has better life. If it does matter, screw flatness, give me a cheap crt.

Working 7 days a week and taking an expensive all-you-want 2-week vacation, or working 5 days a week with an 8-week holiday but with no real cash to do anything?

Debian. Neither works the way I want to, but at least Debian allows me to change it.

Laptop with a docking station. Or not even a real docking station, a monitor-keyboard-mouse setup to plug in does nicely. The LCD, touchpad, laptop keyboard thing just isn't worth it when you could use a desktop-like setup.
