I'm somehow doubting that they are. Usually any website with the word 'free' in it's name is bad. Although, there are some good ones....thefreecountry and freebyte come to mind...

I looked at the blog linked in OP and most of what I saw seemed legal..
The real problem with goto is not with the control transfer, but with environments. Properly tail-recursive closures get both right.

Which is why I pressed "reply" and not "delete". I can't somehow explain why they would be.

Well. If those thousand or so book are illegal then I guess so.

Here are a few that almost look like they could be:
http://rapidshare.de/files/3570181/MCSA_ -_ MCSE_ -_ Self-Paced_ Training_ Kit_ _ Exam_ 70-290_ _ Managing.pdf..html
http://rapidshare.de/files/3570181/mcsa_ -_ mcse_ -_ self-paced_ training_ kit_ _ exam_ 70-290_ _ managing.pdf..html
http://rapidshare.de/files/3814162/que. ... .rar..html
http://rapidshare.de/files/3827214/standard_ handbook_ petroleum_ natural_ gas_ engineering_ volume2.rar..html

Never the less it does look a little strange, or some sort of scam?

Warez or something such. *shrug*

Of course the file download does not work, but I think that is enough to say that quite a many of those thousands of books he has linked or did have linked in some warez network it looks like are illegal. I mean DUH.

You think things come that free? Let me know when you find something that good.

Not that it really matters. Ebooks are overrated, especially when it comes to IT. Actually most books are overrated when it comes to IT. Then again most academic research publications are overrated as well (at least for IT) so what can one expect..

It's actually quite sad. Sometimes you find real gems, that nobody cares about, because it wasn't printed in full-color, or published in a big important conference, but most of the time it seems like those that write books and/or papers where the ones that weren't smart enough to actually come up with something worth writing about.

I'm not saying books are useless, but most of them are pretty overrated.
