Network Utilization 0.5%?

Post by pcmattman »

I go to the networking tab in Task Manager and it turns out that only 0.5% network utilization is happening... This sounds somewhat WRONG especially given the fact that 0.5% in comparison to 100% seems somewhat slow and inefficient.

Any hints, anyone? Or is this just normal?

Edit: this only seems to happen when I'm accessing internet, file sharing causes it to go up to 50% (file wasn't big enough to really push the limits). Is there any way to try to such the full potential out of my LAN device, or is it just showing 0.5% because I've got a 100mb connection to the router and our internet is only 512kb??

I'd say "yes", and the 50% peak at file-sharing was probably because the file was pushed into a buffer in the router, thus not hitting the bandwidth limit of your connection.
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.
