So you wanna be an OSDev star (with apologies to The Byrds)
I was bored. (note... this is kind of about me...)
So you wanna be an OSDev star...
Well, listen now, to what I write...
Just get an compiler,
Then learn how to code and learn it right!
And when you've been up all night
And your're not thinkin' right,
it's gonna be alright.
Then it's time for mega-tokyo
Where the F-A-Q will let you know
And so you're led to some web page
With five large tomes on protected mode
And in a week or two
If your code works right,
"Hello, world!" in black behind white!
The things that you learned about VGA
The little bugs that drove you really insane
The time that you spent, and the girlfriends that went
Don't forget what you are, you're an OSDev star!

There was one held on the fasm forum called "512b compo"skylar wrote:Speaking of OSDev games...Wasn't there an OSDev contest held in the past by osdever.net?

You probably mean the bonafide code wars ? From what I know there just wasn't enough participation so that the competition never really took off. In my opinion OS development is just way too complex and time-consuming for such short-term coding contests.skylar wrote:Speaking of OSDev games...Wasn't there an OSDev contest held in the past by osdever.net?
