Gaming Consoles
So if you are getting a gaming console in the next 2 months which one would you opt for?
Would be great if you share the reasons for your choice?

Nintendo for me. They're the only ones that make games that I'd like to play two years after they were brought out and that still ring a bell. There's a reason for Zelda 12, Mario 42 and such, and it's not a lack of imagination.

Re:Gaming Consoles
Im buying a gp2x. I'm developing a new game for it (its a cross between old ultimas, specifically III, magic candle, questron ii etc type classic CRPG's).
since i watch about 1hr tv a week, we have a crap tv.. and if i got a new gaming console (not that Id play it much to make the cost worthwhile) we would have to spring and get a nice HD lcd tv. which is an extra $800 for the one I was looking at getting... if I were to get one...

I will be getting a Wii because
- It's cheap (~AU$322)
- The games look good
- The remote is awesome and
- The console itself looks cool
US$250 for the Wii, not sure how much a gamecube is.BTW how much does a nintendo console cost?

Re:Gaming Consoles
I chose XBox because it's the only console to which Oblivion has been ported. No other reason...
Top three reasons why my OS project died:
- Too much overtime at work
- Got married
- My brain got stuck in an infinite loop while trying to design the memory manager
Re:Gaming Consoles
Xbox:
I am tempted by the 360 because of the pretty graphics, but the only game I'd actually end up buying for it would be Halo 3, so probably not worth the price tag.
Playstation:
I will be eagerly awaiting the PS3, mainly as it'll mean the PS2 will come down in price and I can play Guitar Hero on my own one rather than my mate's ;D
Nintendo:
I'd both look and feel like an idiot waving that controller around. I'm thinking of it very much just as a gimmick like the DS's touchscreen, where one or two games will use it in a decent way, but most will add pointless features in order to justify its existence.
Evo:
?
A High End System:
My new PC that is on the horizon (well, not uber-high-end, but high enough for me)

Re:Gaming Consoles
I'll definitely buy a Wii, simply because of one thing: Metroid Prime 3. ;D
OK, they announced other interesting games as well, I will put my trust in Nintendo this time as well that they'll get it right again!

Re:Gaming Consoles
Not planning on getting a console (isn't really a good idea when there's a mom that loves to watch detective series at any random time in the evening for hours on end) This's how my preference goes, though, even if it doesn't mean I'd buy one.
Playstation 3: I'm afraid it'll be the same old Beat'm Up, racers and FPS/gangsta games that's been on the PS2. You know, the stuff media howls 'bout, the stuff that's made with hundred in a dozen, and if you play one of them, you've played all of them. Too boring for my likes. Not even to mention the ridiculous price and the blu-ray they're stuffing in it that'll probably make sure you can't even play certain legally bought games due to DRM stuff.
XBox 360: Ehmm... never really has appealed to me. It's kinda cool, but... no games on it that really catch my interest enough to concider buying it. In the end, you buy a console for the games, not for the console, so if there're no interesting games, I can just as well pass.
Wii: Silly, silly name. Name aside, it's the most interesting one of them, but I'd never buy it without first checking out how much effect the controller has on the games. The idea itself of the controller's great. Makes you get some movement while playing games ;D Don't know 'bout the games on it yet, and the same thing goes for the Wii as for the XBox 360. If none of the games catch my interest, the console doesn't (although this one'd have a step ahead, due to the original and healthier concept)
Evo: What the heck's the Evo?
High-end System: I'm perfectly happy with my current computer, which, to current standards, would be concidered outdated by a year or three, but I don't need anything higher than this.
From consoles and handhelds together, my preference goes to the DS far above all others, simply because the games on it're amazing. Already's a nice set of titles on it that I'd like to try out, and of which I know I'd play them and'd be able to replay them after finishing them. That's what does the trick in selling.

Re:Gaming Consoles
Ok so seem to be several votes for the high end PC.
Hmmm..........
What kind of PC config would be a match for a gaming console?

Re:Gaming Consoles
Yeah seems to be better to settle on a PC.
At least I can do something else with it when I get bored of playing.
