No multitasking , its describes only how to create a bootloader in asm , a simple kernel , a scrolling and display function with C .
Its also describe how to change frome real mode to pmode .
It could be a nice idea if anyone can add the link above to the Ressources page on the wiki .

Nah, the idea is a web page that can be edited in a web browser. Software doesn't have political or social agendas (why I don't like GPL). I'm not the only one that has editor rights, http://www.osdev.org/phpBB2/groupcp.php?g=1611 46 people currently (added one just this morning). I'd rather spend time adding people to the wiki user group then cleaning up spam.

If you're requesting editor access just create a forum account and PM me here and let me know what your user name is. If you're just making a general comment, it's a much more open system then lots of web sites that run some type of link management software that only lets moderators change things. I'm trying to make a community edited encyclopedia of OS development. Personally I see it as an internet version of a peer review system.


Obviously I don't own any of those links so if someone wants to list them in the OS FAQ also it won't hurt my feelings.

You are right, from a technical standpoint a Wiki is about editing content in a web browser. However, the idea behind that is to allow many people to edit content - like in Wikipedia, or our OS FAQ. Spam is a problem, and limiting editor rights to people that you know is a valid approach to solve that problem.

The wiki engine used on wikip?dia stores a copy of the wiki page on History page before saving the changes , so the spam isnt a big problem , if anyone posts spam messages ( links to its site ... ) , then a moderator or administrator must restore the previous saved version of the article .

All Wikis (that I know of) keep a page history. When spammer scripts hit 200+ pages at once, about every other day, having the history available doesn't help too much either. You need something more, like a Captcha check, a limit on the number of external links, mandatory user logins, or something like that.

Well I give out editor rights without making people jump through a lot of hoops so I don't really think there is a significant barrier to those that have contributions. I think the only reason wikipedia can't adopt a system like this is because they are a general purpose wiki. A specialized wiki like one on OS development should be able to make this work because those that are granting editor rights should be subject matter experts and know who should have access.

How many useful modification have been made to the OS FAQ recently by anonymous users that don't post regularly on MT?
