Wget Windows binary. Works better than any other download manager I've tried.

Usually I don't bother with extra software. A rather reliable DSL connection with flatrate does that for you - I just right-click, "Download link target" from MSIE and that's it.

If I have to bulk-leech stuff, it's wget under Cygwin.
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.

Same as Solar basicly, except I use Firefox. Works well enough.

after trying many of them, i've finally come to the conclusion that for really big files like iso etc, i use IDM (Internet download mgr), b/w usage is always above 90%. and for smaller or moderate ones is a whole range of choices, maybe LeechGet, Flashget, DAP.

btw, i dont know why my experience with those dlnd managers/accelerators is not good when it comes to big downloads (dvd iso), there, IDM works the best. and i've no idea why that is so.

Just Firefox or ABC (yet Another Bittorrent Client) for torrents. ABC is great - it's very simple, and it doesn't have hundreds of features that I never will use.

Firefox download manager for small sized files and login/cookie protected downloads, wget for large files ( ISO images... ). I'm under Gentoo Linux and mainly using text utilities ( even under X ).
