Windows XP

All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.

Pretty stupid, one would think they'd take a second (okay a year or three) to maintain and secure thier new OS. They keep trying to get ahead of themselves they are going to just have to come back and update it when someone exploits it sooner or later. Oh well.

Try running a development PHP & SQL environment under Win98SE. You'll be glad with XP ;)

They do. In department A. While in department B development on the next version is done.

Look at GCC. Current release is 4.0.x, most are still using 3.x. Nevertheless, they are working on 4.1.x and 4.2.x already.

This is the world of professional software development. A product takes years until completion. If you put your development on version x+1 on hold just because you just released x, you'll be out of business in no time.
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.
