I finally found my perfect physical hardware testing setup

Post by mariuszp »

I realized I can safely dual-boot Glidix on my physical machine. My Linux installation is on a pair of NVMe, and Glidix does not have drivers for that, so can't tamper with my important data. I bought a SATA SSD for Glidix, and attached it to a VM. In the VM, I can boot my Glidix installation ISO, install it on the SATA SSD, and shut down the VM. I can then reboot my physical machine and boot from the SATA SSD, and tada, it boots Glidix.

On my Linux setup I can change the owner of /dev/sda to be myself and thus run the VM without elevated privileges too.

That's a pretty efficient setup and I don't have to switch around any hardware.
