How do I become a moderator?
Re:How do I become a moderator?
The ranking at the side is based on post count. Moderator status OTOH will be hard (if not impossible) to obtain as it is entirely on the decision of the existing ones and I don't know if these boards recruit or if they have enough already.

Re:How do I become a moderator?
How can I become a master of the world? ;D
Now seriously: Why do you want to be a moderator? Or why do you think someone should give you that status? What are your advantages comparing to the others?
You are here only one month, posted 10 messages and you want to be a moderator?

I dunno, maybe it's time to pick new mods. Nick Sonneveld's been AWOL since September 2004 (But I know he's still alive, because he still updates his blog). Brian Provinciano and Tim Robinson've been gone for quite a while too, or more involved in other projects. The only mods that I know are still around are DF, Candy, Chris, Pype.Clicker and Solar.
Re:How do I become a moderator?
we dont really need any more mods anyway. its not like the board is inundated with trolls and spam.

Oh, a moderator...mods...stuff. I see. I that it was a ranking

Administrators, Global Moderators, and Moderators are not title's earned by doing something special. Only an Administrator like me and df can make people Moderators and such. But right now I don't see any need for more. But I will leave that decision up to df.
As for the other ranks. It's based on your post count.. If you do respond to stuff and start topics eventually your rank will increase.

If I tell you then it takes the fun and surprise out of it.
Re:How do I become a moderator?
We had that issue before... you will be judged by the quality of your posts, not your post count. I think I speak for all the mega-tokyo.com regulars when I say that ranking and post count is mostly ignored. To the contrary, pushing your post count artificially by responding more often than you have something to say usually decreases the... respect, or whatever you might think comes with rank.
IIRC, df once ventured to remove the whole ranking system from the forum software because of all this.

Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.
Re:How do I become a moderator?
Yeah... unfortunately the ranks came back during the upgrade in software. ::)

I don't think that we need ranks, but I still like to know how many posts I have made. If you remove it from under the name, I still think you should be able to see in the profile.

That was the case back when Df took them out. I personally don't care 'bout the post count. Dunno how many posts I've made... I'll check after this post. I guess it's 'bout 1300, although it could just as well be double of that.
