Politeness and Moderation
Re:Politeness and Moderation
whyme_t, beyond_infinity: Judging from your repies to my post it implies that you enjoy such discussions (calling *me* a troll / suggesting that we don't really have to READ the thread).
To this I say, if that's your solution - enjoy bladers thread and all the other that will come after it, I have nothing further to add other than eat your own soup.
Candy, Pype.Clicker: I really respect your work here, it shows that you are really trying to help and be informative and productive for every post, however as with anything there should be a strict line to maintain a certain level of discussion.
When someone posts random bits of assembly code coupled with a strange INDIAN sentences (which he considers to be English) the line has gone too far.
When someone gets upset yelling f*uck all over the place because he is too dumb to understand how to run command line programs, the line has gone too far.
I can go on, without the need of other examples other than bladers post.
I really don't think the moderators are immuned to criticism, even with all what they do, I think it's pretty obvious that the thread was not going anywhere besides pissing people off (kataklinger: "I have no comment , I cannot discuss about this any more.").
People are WAITING for the moderators to do their job and close this goddamn thread and don't expect them to participate in such kindergarten level discussions.
Splitting the only normal part of the thread (THIS) to an offtopic thread and leaving the original trolling in the front page of the forum just shows how much this forum has distorted moderation. with all due respect.
As for saying "by far, the best forum for what it specialises in", maybe it's just because it's the only active forum about OSdeving? (the news servers don't count).
Take care.

Re:Politeness and Moderation
Thank you. Even though Bladers isn't too concerned with politeness and common behaviour (among adults) on forums, he does have a point he wants discussed and thought about. He's trying to realise a dream and it requires making an OS. Even though he can't seem to be polite or nice in your eyes, that's no reason to kick him off by moderation. As far as I'm concerned, the best way to treat pretty much everything is with talking. Only use force (moderation) when something goes off-topic or when something breaks the rules. There aren't many rules to break here (but if you do, be sure that you will be moderated) and determining when exactly something goes offtopic is pretty hard.yang wrote: Candy, Pype.Clicker: I really respect your work here, it shows that you are really trying to help and be informative and productive for every post, however as with anything there should be a strict line to maintain a certain level of discussion.
You do realise that there is no real front page of the forum? It's a two-sided forum with on one hand OS development and on the other SGI/AGI/Sarien development. You are offtopic in any way on OS development since you're only on about moderation and why we haven't closed the thread yet.Splitting the only normal part of the thread (THIS) to an offtopic thread and leaving the original trolling in the front page of the forum just shows how much this forum has distorted moderation. with all due respect.
Any guesses as to why others could be less active? Could it be censorship / moderation? As for saying "by far, the best forum for what it specialises in", maybe it's just because it's the only active forum about OSdeving? (the news servers don't count).
Re:Politeness and Moderation
Adding to a supposedly nonsense thread with even more nonsense, way to go Yang...
Contrary to your belief, you don't have to read every single new post in a thread if you don't want to, no-one made you read this. The thread this came from isn't on the front page of the forums (that being the forums list), nor is it the only active thread in the OS Dev forum. Additionally, if I was Indian I would take offense that you would describe very bad english as being an example of my own language.
If you want less trolling on these forums, maybe you should cut down on it yourself.
In other news, the reason this place is as active as it is is most likely because thread aren't randomly deleted/locked, nor do we have a go at new guys who don't quite know what they're doing. To steal someone's signature (probably badly quoting it, sorry):
"It's better to light a candle than flame the darkness."

@yang:
Pretty clear, lad. Not only a sharp tongue is what is asked for. brains and proper thinking are essential. Else you can't claim competence in the art of discussion.
Reconsider and adjust your attitude ere you respond. It isn't done with placing wanna_be_a_biting_dog-replies.
BTW - I like my own soups. They are very good. Recently, I've made a Chicken soup with looots of carrots & sorta - and not too less ginger & pepper&garlic. Next Time I'm gonna add toadstools. Look how that's gonna taste.
You should, as is clear by what you utter here, accomplish more skill in the art of reading. By merely reading and ripping out buzz words/buzz sentences and trying to dissect them, nothing is proven but your fear to lose face.whyme_t, beyond_infinity: Judging from your repies to my post it implies that you enjoy such discussions (calling *me* a troll / suggesting that we don't really have to READ the thread).

Re:Politeness and Moderation
I recall toadstools taste pretty much like biteable plastic when put in soup. Don't like them myself, company chef puts it in nearly every soup (so there must be some people liking it). Tomato soup with carrots and rice is also nice, but it has to be quite a thick soup for it to work out well.beyond infinity wrote: BTW - I like my own soups. They are very good. Put metaphorically, I like my own soups better than most other soups, although I seem to like most other peoples soups around here as well.

Might I barge in and ask what this's 'bout? Seems rather odd a thing, but I can't grasp anything of what this's 'bout. I know it's not 'bout little mice playing poker with some dice they stole from lice, but aside from that, I can't get head nor tales on this.
@Beyond Infinity: ARGL! No more chicken soup! Radio's giving a major overdose of that already >:(
