Politeness and Moderation
Greetings
[glow=red,2,300]Dear Ladies And Gentleman[/glow]
I have come to you this day to anounce that this Batwave project was started when i was 12 years old. On Jan 04 2005 was when the batwave dream began. Since That day it has been my Goal and Hobby to get the project done. I have Researched about OS,PDA,Batwave, and OS Application for a long time. i have reseached over 1 million times, thats why ladies and gentlemen i dont bother about my spelling, comprehension, and sentence in any Internet Forum.

Hi,
IMO, you should go for something easy.. I don't know, maybe you should start with a simple LED show, programmed with a PIC..
One note though: maybe it's in your advantage of giving answers to the questions asked by the posters, instead of just posting messages which are somehow irrelevant.. (well, some parts are relevant, but not useful)

Now this is a step in the right direction.. (it could be a less formal though ), although I think your reason to type in a sort of crappy way is not a valid one. It's highly possible that you get comments that you're a little child who should play outside in his little garden..Bladers wrote: I have come to you this day to ... i have reseached over 1 million times, thats why ladies and gentlemen i dont bother about my spelling, comprehension, and sentence in any Internet Forum.
And what did you get? Anything useful I hope? I just can not believe that you're researching that long without a result. Have you already searched (or even considered) for other methods of implementing your Batwave?I have Researched about OS,PDA,Batwave, and OS Application for a long time.

Sorry, may I? What does that make us search engines? Yeah, maybe some guys might know some answers about the PDA, OSes for the PDA (booting) (NOT a PC OS), but IIRC you didn't ask for an answer. Instead, you give us the choice of guessing your question and then you expect we should answer it.. we are not capable (at least, I'm not [small]yet[/small]) of reading your mind...i have reseached over 1 million times,

lol! ;D ;D ;D
This is funny! ;D
I lost my nervs 1 million times doing OS development, but still I'm trying to be polite, but with guys like you it is not worth!
P.S. Reseach it one more time, let it be 1000001 times

You haven't researched over 1 million times. You only have lived around 426018852 seconds since you were born (average of 13.5 years I've given you) and you did not research this every seven minutes since you were born. Proper research takes a lot of time to do once, let alone more than once. I've been researching topics like AC97 and network chips, that were virtually handed to me on a silver platter and I've still been working on it for hours to understand it. It's not my age (it's near impossible to read them in under that time, let alone understand) so you are not properly researching.
Your post was however very pointless, since you didn't say anything worthwhile with it. The only thing you have tried to emphasize (and if you ignore the blatant overuse of politeness, is in fact written in normal english in there and does in fact come across) is that you aren't just joking around for two days with this. You have done some form of research (which in your own judgement is enough) and you are willing to try hard to get it done. If you hadn't been willing to try very hard, you would've quit replying around 30 replies ago.
We did give you a number of positive constructive criticisms. A small overview of advice that we've been trying to get across:
- Learn how to use a non-graphical user interface
- Understand the "under the bonnet" of a computer, the chips, what they do, how stuff is transported, how it's stored etc.
- Use sentences, grammar that can be understood (try to get it right and your intent will come across, fail not you try when) and correct spelling. Words can be translated having completely different meaning in certain sentence constructions and if you do use one of those constructions your point won't get across.
Most important (and also something that makes me hesitate to reply again):
- READ what people are telling you, REPLY to it if you don't understand it (with constructive comments, such as "how does booting a PDA work?" instead of "can't use it") and REPLY to it if you do, for thanks or criticism ("sorry, but that's of no use to me", "thanks, I can get this working myself now").
-- back to my newer replyCandy wrote:Full agreement on that.Kemp wrote: DennisCGc: Compared to this guy's english yours is perfect To be honest, I didn't notice anything wrong with yours in that post (and I don't remember your other posts being bad).
After a very small amount of websearching I've found you have indicated somewhere that you live in Detroit, Michigan, USA. You should therefore be able to speak a decent amount of english, since it's your first language. For nearly all the people you've spoken to, it's their second language. Why are they better at their second language than you at your first?
We need proper english to communicate. Any form of change you would add to the currently common language would localise it, since you implicitly assume people have the same form of thinking. I for instance don't know where places in detroit are, let alone what the capital of michigan would be. If you distort english to something your environment can understand, you won't be able to communicate outside the environment. Since you're trying to communicate with a very widespread group of people here (some in europe, some in asia, some in north-america, some australian and we might even have some people from south america or africa... don't think we represent antarctica though) you need to conform to normal english to get your thoughts across.
As you might have noticed, you need words to bring your ideas across. You need lots of them. Prepare to type full sentences, make clean and concise paragraphs and use normal words to get your logic across. When Word stops complaining about your spelling, you're almost there.
o-k.... that's a little overboard. Formal language is not quite important, correct spelling and grammar are however. You needn't be polite, there's absolutely no need for excessive or false politeness (such as referring to us as ladies and gentlemen, I can't remember the first female member of the forum and I'm in for any bet that says there isn't one).Bladers wrote: I have come to you this day to anounce that this Batwave project was started when i was 12 years old. Re:The batman Tech Os
as far as i know (3 mm) your bat wave wont need a boot sector to load data or a boot sig, your cpu will simply start executing code in your ram/rom. i would recomend finding an asmbler or compiler that will work for your cpu (gcc has been ported to everything), next make the code to lite a LED, if you can even get this far. untill then you rilly dont need to be working on an OS before the hardware is invented:)
p.s. why dont you make an PC OS then you can port it when the hardware is running:)

Well,
I think a moderator should lock or delete this thread? It doesn't make sense to "answer" (there were no questions actually) to him, anymore...

Why lock a thread that isn't doing anything wrong? It's just pointless in its own right and will die out when it actually is pointless.bluecode wrote: Well,

It does however form a nice archive for somebody like him that's bound to come by in the future, as a nice back-reference (read this all and when you have, come back or we'll lock your thread) so we don't have to do this over and over again.
As for bladers:
This thread and This thread show how a normal discussion is made. Somebody asks a question and cooperates with people trying to help him so that he is actually receiving useful tips and information. You haven't asked for anything useful so you're not getting anything either.

Re:The batman Tech Os
I think I heard conversation like this in past. For instance:
;D
Wile E. Coyote: Allow me to introduce myself. My name is "Wile E. Coyote"... Genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to cases. You are a rabbit, and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away! I am more muscular, more cunning, faster, and larger than you are... and I'm a genius. Why you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten. So, I'll give you the customary 2 minutes to say your prayers.
Bugs Bunny: I'm sorry, mac, but the lady of the house ain't home and besides we mailed you people a check last week!
Slam
Wile E. Coyote: Why do they always want to do it the hard way?

@bladers:
Despite your big politeness (Is there any sarcasm hidden in it ... Well, in dubio pro reo) you fail to get one very important point: in order to communicate a message successfully, there is a need to obey to protocol rules - as grammar, punctuation and spelling, eh? Else you won't be understood nor respected.
I highly recommend you to adjust this attitude for it bears nothing but mischief and worse.
You need not be polite in this juicy, exaggerated way. Just use a conversational language we others are able to understand - and fill your posts with facts we can gnaw on.
BTW, if you spake that mutilated way to me in Real Live, not just in Virtuo, You'd merely earn a puzzled look, a lifted eyebrow and a "Sorry, I didn't get it. Could you say it again?"
Stay safe
@Kataklinger: Well ... Why do it the simple way if it can be done more complicated? *winkwink*

This is plain ridiculous.
You are calling this forum moderated?
Leaving some ****** post from this kiddo who nobody takes seriously in any other forums he has trolled and attended and letting this post go as far as a COMPLETE THREAD DISCUSSION? (DISCUSSION? about what I ask?! about random assembly code coded by *other people*?!)
There is a clear point where enough is enough, if he's not trying to be a troll, he must be *really* dumb then, sorry to say.
There is absolutely no way this kid will be making an OS in the near future, not without understanding how command line works and how to compile simple HELLO WORLD PROGRAMS, he knows NOTHING about programming and computers in order to even understand the concept behind an OS.
The correct response would have been politely explaining that he needs more knowledge for such a project and as soon as the trolling continue, complete lock up and deletion of the thread, this is how REAL FORUMS get rid of such nuisances and make room for REAL discussions by people who are here seriously.
Close this goddamn lame thread.
It's very SAD that this is the only active thread here, this forum cannot be called moderated when the moderators are participating in such dishonorable threads that would have been just deleted in any other respectable forum.
I really tried to be polite, really.
Thanks.

Yang, you bang out of line! This forum is, by far, the best forum for what it specialises in. There is no way the moderators here should be criticised! They do an excellent job, and know their stuff.
As for this being the only active thread....maybe you're just a troll...

You try to be polite, but you aren't. *chuckle*
But on the other hand ... this forum isn't heavily moderated. We can have our say as is due as long as we obey certain rules like not using cusswords or calling others names(as in real life, where you don't call the other one an ******* eh?) - we can go so far as to kick off quite heavy arguments without the mods stepping in as long as we refrain from certain language.
In this sense: let this kid have his cerebral expulsions ... it doesn't hurt anyone, and showing some patience doesn't deprive you of any stone in your crown , eh? Besides, we don't need to *read* the thread, do we?
have a nice day

First of all, any form of moderation locks out users. Since there aren't many users about this topic, not many interested and since it's a very varied and complex topic, locking out people is one of the last things you'd want to do.yang wrote: This is plain ridiculous.

Second of all, if we close this thread he'll probably open a few more to figure out why this was closed. If he won't listen here he won't in the other threads. If you have multiple threads it pollutes the forum a lot more and drives away people just the same.
Third of all, even if he is a rude ****, he does not violate any form of rules. If this goes off-topic judging by OS dev standards (which I'm considering at this very moment, since it's more of a metadiscussion than an osdev discussion) it'll be moved to off-topic. If it doesn't do anything wrong, why delete it? If there's really nothing going on, people will notice and it'll just die out.
[edit] Ok, I think I agree pretty much with Beyond Infinity. That's good I think. [/edit]
