Say something about the person above you ^^

All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.

It amazes me that something so... pointless as this topic, could survive for so long :P.

^ apparently doesn't see why people have a need for pointless stuff... it allows you to relax and clear your mind so you can focus on complex stuff anew, finding an answer to your problems more quickly...

< is off trying to make a scalable font somethingy, not sure on what it should do so it's probably going to fail

^is false.

< is neither a teapot nor short (since when 198 centimeters are short?). Besides, < "needs" some postcount++ therefore is posting here.

^ didn't bother to create an account and log in, which IMHO should be mandatory before posting...

< wants all things to be right and by-the-book and clean and tidy... which probably makes me a good programmer but a royal PITA for others at times. ;)

^ likes by-the-book, but would probably prefer it if he had written the book as well. ;)

< tends to make silly errors in code examples because he posts too late at night.
Top three reasons why my OS project died:
  1. Too much overtime at work
  2. Got married
  3. My brain got stuck in an infinite loop while trying to design the memory manager

< doesn't think that casual users should be inconvenienced by having to create an account to post. Besides, I'm sure there currently aren't many disadvantages to guest posting being possible - if there were significant implications (e.g. uncontrollable spam), then I think mandatory account creation should be implemented.

"Inconvenienced"? By a one-time registration? You don't even have to log in more than once thanks to cookies. At least give yourself a name, I don't like to talk to someone who's just "Guest".

^ didn't follow the point of the thread (and I added this just to do follow it :))

Although I agree on the name thing, I don't see a point behind making registration mandatory. The main thing you'll achieve is ruining the database with a load of user names that are registered for single-time posts and that don't contain any info a guest name wouldn't. I've had a few times on fora that I would have posted a message to somebody proving their counterpoint when nobody else answered, but they required me to register (for free! wieee! not interested) so I didn't post. There's always the idiocy of "ExpertsExchange" where you need to register for answers, but where half the threads have no answers...

^ Has the least amopunt of screenshots of there OS of everyone and apparantly doesn't like being ignored.

< Couldn't write an OS even if I had a tutorial telling me how.
