Hmm. I hope that's cautious optimism, Cosmic. But then you liked Resident evil didn't you. To each their own I guess.

It could go either way but I've got a bad feeling about this...

I don't expect much decent conversation or content, but I think I'll watch it anyway. That's only because in the last 2 years there were really _NO_ movies that could really catch my attention for more than 10 minutes (OH, sorry, I forgot about 'Alien versus Predator' - that one was great ;)), and this Doom movie looks at least like action.

You know they've killed a videogame franchise when they make a movie out of it. Let's count them.

Alone in the Dark
Tomb Raider
Mario Bros
Resident Evil
Final Fantasy
Mortal Kombat
Max Payne
and now DOOM.

I hope to God we don't start seeing some of the more popular franchises out there go Hollywood. Imagine a movie based on SimCity or the Sims... eww! Fair enough if it's an Adventure game or an RPG and it has a storyline. I'd LOVE to see a movie based on MYST (as long as it's written by the Miller Bros.) or a Kyrandia movie.
But no, we're going to be fed this **** forever. GTA movies are next, followed by Command and Conquer. Hell, I wonder why they've still not made Pac-Man or PONG into movies yet? Those were some of the best-selling games of the 70s and 80s.

Why can't they just leave the goddamn video game industry ALONE?

Bubble Bobble the movie:
"Hey Bub!"
"Yes, Bob?"
"BLUUUUURP!"
"Hey, you catched Frankie!"
"Quick, pop his bubble!"
"Mmmmm... bananas"
That ought to be a good laugh... or more boring than the Teletubbies.

Go and learn how the game industry's working these days, and you'll figure it out. The game industry is slowly turning into a Hollywood clone, and so the two are teaming up for crossovers!

Not all game to movie and movie to game stuff is bad. Has anyone played Chronicles of Ridick: Escape from Butcher Bay? One of the best conversions from movie to game I have seen. Oh and I am sure alot of you have played Ninja Turtles, awsome games, awsome movies, awsome tv series, etc. And I am talking about the original Ninja Turtle tv series, movies, and games, not the new stuff that's been out recently.

I think the second resident evil movie was good, didn't care for the first one that much but it was decent.

And I like the Mario Bros. movie as well. Luigi is the "Pest". ;D

I think the Mortal Kombat movies are good too.

I do think alot of those movie to game and game to movie conversions went bad... but there are also some really good conversions though, and just because some went bad, doesn't mean it's a bad step for the movie and game companies to make.

I think doom may have been a bad choice since story line wise... it's lacking. But we will see how it goes, and I will definatly give it a fair chance.

I agree, not all cross-overs are bad.

Doom looks at least like there will be some action in it... And mutants :D

Hey, Max Payne movie isn't out yet! Max Payne games have always had a strong storyline, and if Sam Lake is working on it, it might be better than most of the game-to-movies.

But yes, I wonder if DOOM will be anything good. It's not like it didn't have a story, but then again, so did Pac-Man.

IMO, it didn't have much to do with the game, but it was quite well done, indeed. (if we are talking about the same movie - did they do only one?)

Btw, wasn't it called 'Hero Turtles'? 8)

Halo has been confirmed for being made into a movie: http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.asp ... biggorilla
Supposedly the same people who did Lord of the Rings (Peter Jackson, WETA, et al)
