Ah... adolescence...

8)

Got to pick up my graduation yearbook (1992) again some time...

Enjoy it while it lasts. And take it from someone who, back then, thought that grades don't matter that much: They do, and I still have to struggle uphill in some areas because I didn't really pay attention back then. (Maths, mainly.)

You do need the knowledge later on, no matter how ridiculous that may sound while you're in class.
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.

In September, I will go to 10th grade, which, according to US education system, would be the second year of high school. It'll be exciting, I'll be going to a lot better school than my last one, and starting from this year, I'll be specializing into Maths, Physics and Informatics.

In the US, you usually take Physics as a senior, or MAYBE a junior...

Heh, I left highschool back in 2001. Man am I glad that's over. Never made it out of the 10th grade, I just took a test which proved I was at the level of a colledge student and they gave me my high school diploma. ;D

The funny thing is that they consider teaching me Javascript is teaching me a programming language....bleh, it's a scripting language, can't they understand??? lol.

All last year I had to fix stuff for the TECHNOLOGY leader. I was also able to sell him a computer :).

This year I'll be taking Algebra 2 Honors, Physical Science Honors, Biology Honors, Humanaties 1 Honors,.....and Orchestra (violin!).

Yeah. The closest they teach to a programming language at my school is Visual Basic, although thats not till senior (grade 11/12). I am in year nine, which is the second year over here, and they teach HTML, which is really boring, as I have known how to write HTML since I was ten. Well, the upside is that on the assessment (which is building a website) I'll get another A+.

STAY AWAY! KEEP OUT OR YOUR SOUL WILL ROT! I'm telling you this as a former high schooler (last year was sophomore) who is now homeschooling and WAY happier (even my parents are noticing), you DON'T want to go to any remotely normal high school. If it's Sudbury Valley like, maybe, but you really don't want to go to normal school.

That being said, I am happy beyond belief that I won't be going back this year.

CJMovie, what're you doing on this website? The games, OS deving? Just asking.

I'm in grade 9 this year in Queensland. The reason that most of us choose to attend high-school is because we value the social interaction and the teachers can help on more levels than your parents probably could, unless of course they are retired teachers...

@ Crazed123: It's also virtually impossible to obtain an OP (Overall Position, on a 1-25 scale [1 being highest, 25 being lowest] which is used to get you into different Uni courses), as you can't be properly monitered by an impartial third party. And even if they made you go back into school to sit the tests etc, what would be the point?

Most of the kids who have been home schooled in Primary (Elementary school for US people) school come into High school and A) can't make friends, B) Become total social outcasts.

@ Stephen: Just remember Matthew... ;)

And unless you have a learning disability or light eversion or really contagious disease then you're probably robbing yourself of social development necessary to survive in life outside of school, where, believe it or not, you actually have to talk to other people!

My 2 cents anyways, thanks
