@Solar: Oy, I'd give you a free course in running away like Rincewind the wizzard. You sound like an experienced warrior smiling mildly about the braggings swirling round. BTW who are the two of them? In case I choose OALD, meanwhile knowing nothing about it.

@Calum: Just two things?

The elbow you don't lift or so. This works if the opponent attempts to take you in the ... we call it "Schwitzkasten". Place an elbow in his solarplexus and you'll get air again. Should have mentioned this before to avoid being looked at. Oh, and then you may throw him over your shoulder. Never punch with fists in a face. Too hard. Teeth and bones are in the way. Stomach/abdomen is always good. Kicking is good. Avoid getting your legs caught then.

Yeah, and avoiding fights is best. I actully *like* my skin.

OALD = Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary?

In this case I'd choose this one, tells you more about what's in there. (Actually, never read in a Harper Collins' either ::) )

Gasoline or diesel? (I hope we didn't have this yet...)

LPG. Gasoline == 1.45 a liter, diesel == 1.15 a liter, LPG == 0.48 a liter. Not that hard to choose, right? Note, these are the dutch current prices in euros.

Green or blue?

Blue, definitely. Reminds me of the sea, and is btw my favourite color.

LPG didn't succeed in Austria, there are only some gas stations scattered across the country that still offer it. I'm looking forward to hydrogen fuel cell driven cars. ;)

Btw, the prices you wrote are per liter, but isn't it that LPG cars have a lower range? (/higher consumption)

As for the question - uhmm - ASCII smilies or GIF smilies?

cheers Joe

OK, conversion is about 1:12 for LPG (we use 1:12 right now), 1:14 for gasoline and probably around 1:14 for diesel as well.

So, that comes out to 4 eurocents per kilometer on LPG, 8.2 cents for diesel and 10.4 cents for gasoline.

It'll be no surprise that people are changing to LPG kind of massively, and that the LPG prices are skyrocketing (relatively, so most people plain ignore it and the news channels ignore it just as well). I'm personally looking forward to any type of car that runs on energy that doesn't directly or indirectly pollute. LPG pollutes less than diesel and gasoline, but it still pollutes. Electricity pollutes indirectly, hydrogen is generated by electricity, and thus pollutes even more indirectly.

Not until somebody figures out a way to not pollute will I drive a car with a smile on my face and no bad feelings.

Fusion reactor in the trunk? :D Pollution due to using hydrogen depends on the type of electricity that was used to split it out of the water. The same way you can order 'environment friendly electricity' today (retrieved from water, wind, biomass...), it is possible that you'll have the choice for hydrogen fuel in the future. Btw, I'm quite sure that once it has evolved more hydrogen will be used in much more than just cars, as a portable energy source everywhere: laptops, mobiles...

cheers Joe

Wouldn't a fusion reactor pollute the environment a lot more than any other fuel? Although I'd like to see a car running on that. :P

Why have you all stopped asking questions?

Here's one: Paper or Plastic

calum, why do you insist in asking questions?

No. http://www.iter.org has the facts (more precisely, http://www.iter.org/safety-waste.htm. A fusion reactor has a much smaller environmental footprint than e.g. a coal plant.
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.

Indeed. Thank you for linking me to the site.
I'd choose C&C anytime. It needs a lot more brains than UT.

That's the purpose of the thread ;)

Single tasking, because doing too many things at once makes my head explode and emmit noxious gasses that kill all who come into contact with them... or not :o

The purpose of a thread like this is quite obviously "killing time", because it doesn't serve any real purpose - even less so if controversial or interesting questions are not discussed in greater detail.
Shoes or barefoot?
Barefoot. Feels better, healthier, and I tend to emit noxious fumes at the end of a day in shoes.

Kill all managers, or kill all politicians?
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.
