I don't think it has anything to do with actually applying MA in real life. I think The Jargon File says it better than I could do.

(Combining that with the Jargon File's "other interests" makes me a pretty standard geek... medieval re-enactment, archery, martial arts, roleplaying, former Magic:TG maniac...

Oh sorrow, typing is so much more hand-soothing if you're about to write something looong ...

well, I prefer writing by hand for mostatime to writing by typewriter.

CMOS or TTL?

PS: I'm cooking and os coding in my spare time oh and body building/running/hiking - not the classical geel I daresay.

TTL. I've had bad experience with static electricity, and CMOS chips aren't too resistant against it.

I'd choose a typewriter, although handwriting doesn't have the danger of mispressing and hurting your finger between the keys, I hated that last time I used a typewriter.

I choose a typewriter, since my handwriting suffers from miswriting as well (I usually don't write what I want to). Also, keys are always identifiable and quicker.

The answer is no, although I was considering otherwise.

A faster car and changing location to another country, or keeping your own home land but driving a slower car?

How could a faster car be a "reason" for something like relocating to a different country?

I mean... a better job, social system, education for your kids, safety from natural disasters, lower crime rate, better climate...

...but "a faster car"? Hell, if we hadn't needed more space after our daughter was born, I'd still be driving a 1992 55 PS Renault Clio...

There are many things wrong with my country, but I couldn't imagine living elsewhere. Except Sweden, perhaps.

not relocating, changing nationality. Friend of mine figured that if he changed his nationality to the UK one, he'd save 400 euros a year in car tax and he could buy a twice as good car for the same money... I declared him nuts, but I was wondering what the next poster would make of it

Wanna go to sweden together? I'd really like to... not so much hot temperatures and lots more time for sweaters (and lots of good reasons for staying in and coding)

Nah. It's a nice dream of a nice country, but we'll probably stick to good ol' Germany (and perhaps spend a holiday or two up north).

I'd choose drowning... if someone's in water, he/she could always at least try to swim out, fire is a little bit more difficult to swim in.
Come to Estonia on holiday some year... winters are pretty mild, there's always light therapy against winter depression, and besides, I could show you around (I really need some practice in German).

Admittedly it would be a bit hard to drive to but the summer's in Australia are very mild! You'd love a holiday here, expecially on the Gold Coast...

Self-defense all the way, although I must admit that tap-dancing is more fun. Could work too, making the person trying to assault you laugh out loud...

How do you print your pages? Economically (double-sided, 2-on-a-page), wasting (one a page or less), extra-large characters, extra small... ?
