All off topic discussions go here. Everything from the funny thing your cat did to your favorite tv shows. Non-programming computer questions are ok too.

I have 2,000 something posts, but my posts are all full of content. I have been an active member for a few years and it adds up.

Yeah he has more posts than any other member. But this isn't a contest or anything.

contest what? I have not even hinted something like this, so how comes this deduction? *looks innocent* 8)

Honestly, I don't care about post count. Important is content. :-) And the occasional jesting, may I be forgiven (ego te absolvio ...)

While we're at jesting: ego te absolvo. Absolvia is a graduating class. Absolvio isn't Latin at all as far as I can tell (with my "mangelhaft" in Latin).

Yes you did hint, but maybe you didn't mean to. You said he is "top" which makes it sound like you where saying it was a contest. :P

@Solar:May you be forgiven for shouting into my poor ears. *gg* I'm already hearing impaired, no need to render it to deafness. *fg* Well ... and btw, I wouldna go anywhere too soon today - "scooby doo scooby doo there 's some work to do!"

@chris: oh, those small pitfalls of metaphors.

Those who even care about their post count, are mostly people with inferiority complex - they feel that having a high post count somehow makes them better than they are. Like I was in my early teen years - old fish probably remember pointless posts I made here 2 years ago. Hell, I even let some of my friends post for me, which was especially stupid. As I grew more mature, I stopped caring about it. Ordering people by how much their posts make sense would, well, make more sense.

You seem to be taking this discussion a bit (too?) seriously.

Let's see. Maybe you have an inferiority complex, which forces you to think that you are above such things, and you therefore feel an urge to explain it to everything, in hope of finding acceptance.

Oh, well, one more post...

*sniffs at himself*

No, def'tly no old-fish-reek around me. Just fine lavendulum fragrance. Lucky me.

@eero: Just don't settle too much in maturity and walk around like an olden hag. Where'd the fun in life go if we refrained from all the jesting and word play. :-)

mystran, maybe you are right, and I am with a serious inferiority complex, am self-criticising and seeking for acceptance from people I don't even really know, and don't care about their opinions. (Actually, you seemed to think my words were about you, and you quickly started to defend yourself by mirroring my words back. How childish, no offence meant. :P)
beyond infinity, I wrote I got more mature, not that I got too mature. Besides, jesting and word-play are fine. Making stupid threads and posts isn't. (By old fish, I meant living fish. How could dead fish really remember anything?)

@eero: you're taking this issue a bit too seriously I reckon.

[ot]
*grml'* sometimes it is hard to have a pretty good deal of jesting & irony work as expected due to the other language.

Hell, I gonna go outside for a stroll today afternoon and have a good laugh with my GF afterwards, just for the heck of it.

Oh come on everybody, relax a bit, will you? :D :D :D

Sometimes one feels like cracking jokes. It's not like this isn't still the forum with the highest signal / noise ratio I ever encountered on the 'net so far.

Sometimes someone doesn't get it, or does not want to get it because he isn't in the mood. To those I say, assume the best, we're friends here. And while BI here sometimes seems to be a bit strange, that's because he's Austrian. :D

@ BI:

Do you realize that there are whole threads in this forum where none of the participants are on "native language" grounds? ;D

Huh? Which part wasn't clear?

1) If you think someone on this board wanted to offend you, assume you're wrong. We're a pretty friendly bunch around here. Perhaps you just didn't get the other person's humor, or he forgot to put a smiley in there.

2) Only a couple of the "regulars" around here are native English speakers. Pype, Candy, BI, myself and probably many others I'm not aware of learned English at school. So while we give it our best, sometimes the language barrier bites and something gets received differently than it was intended.
