half life 2

Post by df »

hmm I dunno if I will be getting HL2..

out of curiosity I did download 'steam' just to check it out.
I created an account no probs as YakumoFuji and looked around.. looks like a QT application. crap 'colour schemes'. eesh.

for something to do I stuck my HL1 key into the rego wizard and voila! it added about 7 games to my list.. sweet. Half Life 1 premium platinum pack.. (ok i didnt buy that i bought ages ago some hl1/return to wolfenstein/tom clancy game pack for like ?5...)...

at least it locked this key to my account...

i havnt heard/played any of the ones it added besides HL1/CS
(team fortress classic, day of defeat, deathmatch classic, opposing force, ricochet, hl1, counter strike).

is half life: source the same as half-life 1??

very strange......

Actually, it's Half-Life with a new graphics and physics engine (rag-dolls are always fun). There are some gameplay changes too.

Steam is like that - says its offline ready when it isn't. Sometimes the program either needs to be updated or it hasn't quite downloaded all the required content.

As for Half-Life 2, it is a good game. Don't think it is as groundbreaking as Half-Life 1 though. If you like HL1, I would recommend getting it but don't expect too much more than HL1 with fancier graphics and some added features, with a new storyline of course!

This might be a month and a half too late, but Half-Life 2 is a good fun game, even if it is a bit short. ;)

I've always wondered what's the deal with this... I mean, Windows XP can burn CD's even without a CD burning program installed. So basicly, Steam should refuce to function on any Windows XP machine that happens to have a CD-R(W) drive attached!

And once it does that, have fun finding a pre-built box that doesn't have a CD-RW drive. ;)

You can access BIOS on most of the prebuilt boxes, I think. Disable the CD-RW drive (and if you need to use a CD-drive, get an external one). This is, of course, needed to avoid breaching the warranty contract.

I dunno, Steam has always worked fine for me and I have a CDRW drive with Nero...

I got Half Life 2, it is madcore... Isn't steam a big online community for people who buy and play Sierra games online? Do I need a steam account to play Half Life 1 online? Cos when I use my WOS or whatever account, it doesnt like it ??? oh well..

As far as I know, its just a place you can buy games on your credit card. I think it has some kind of subscription thing or something

BLASPHEMER!

1) It's not Sierra. Sierra's dead, and has been in my eyes for the past 7 years, when Ken Williams sold it to Vivendi.

2) It's for valvE products, not Sierra ;)

Sorry if you think I was ranting at you. I wasn't. I just hate it when people say "Sierra this" and "Sierra that".
