I'm sure they'll go public very soon now. (Or maybe they'll wait till April 1st )
On the other hand, it also seems like everyone who wants a Gmail account already has (at least) one.
You've got to hand it to them: their marketing trick really worked, and probably even better than expected.

If I was Google, I'd never "go public". When you only allow people to register when they have a link inside, one can easily eliminate problem sources if someone tries to generate a lot of spam addresses or similar, by simply seeing who have given invites to the trouble-making accounts.

FOr some reason, after I got a gmail account, I got !50! invites.. did anyone else get that?? I haven't given any out, and I have a feeling that they replenish after a while... if you want one, jsut post with "Calum:" before it... Enjoy
