Attention: Eigen - Virus Warning!

Today I recieved an email from the address [email protected] which contained the virus mydoom. Now I am not sure if it is eigen that is infected, or if the virus pulled the address from someone else's address book, but I thought I should post this warning anyway. Everyone should make sure they have the latest virus checking software installed. The last thing we want to happen is an outbreak in the AGI community. Nowadays, i get around 2 viruses in my INBOX a day...If i do not know the person or if it seems apparently virual, then i delete it. Heck, once i even got a virus sent to me by my address.

They also try to trick you by saying it is "returned mail" but if you look at it, its obvious that you didnt even send it ::).

Its stupid what webmail has come to these days...

Actually it's because of servers that send the messages containing viruses back to the address they were sent from, but this address can be easily faked, and viruses do it. Cosmic R probably got the virus because someone infected with the virus watched a page where both e-mail addresses were on, and the virus used them to try and spread itself.

Well, I get 4 virusses a day, all hotmail addresses, and sometimes an aol address will come!

I've got too several mails from [email protected]
I know it's not him when I look at the subjects of the mail. He always puts very "silly" subjects
Also, I usually get 2 or 3 viruses a day. That sucks, it's really disturbing

exactly... Could somebody search these fora for posts with a certain IP address? They're in the Received headers in your mail (which is what my viruses filter filters on). The two that send me mails (yes, me too) are 80.231.200.130 and 213.168.16.3. These IP's belong to Algeria - Seri Sarl Internet Service Provider (For the first one) and Estonia - Parnu County Government (second one). If you happen to belong to this region of people (can't imagine a lot of algerians or estonians within the parnu government visiting), please double or triple check your computer.

I've just crosschecked the 213.168.16.3 IP with the estonian thread we've hosted, and the IP matches exactly with Eigen. So, yes, you DO have the virus (or you did have the virus). However, there's a second person (from algeria) that also has it. Eigen, please do clean up
