I have NO idea what it's about or who made it... the bit in the car is a physical mock-up. It must be - the lighting is too accurate, but the rest looks to be CG animation. We're still 50 years from this robot, technology-wize, at a guess.
I?ve watched it 20 times now. They're colour matching is damn near perfect. The smoke is a bit out and one shadow is a little too thick (scene - while standing guard on the road) ? otherwise perfect. It seems to me they filtered the robot overlay with a very faint, fine grainy error diffusion to merge it into the scenery and that looks to be the secret to the realism. I think it?s just laid onto blank scenery. The maker is in Africa so they must?ve just gone to a township and shot their own background. Then someone in a studio with the ?ping-pong balls? acted out the movements for mapping?
I?m 100% sure the model is a woman ? probably chosen for the slender frame and narrow waist. Check out the flinch? very female in manner/orientation.
