Need people for OS development

Post by Root »

We are group of hackers. Hackers Network is the name. We are going to develop OS for the Underground. We need anyone who has knowledge about C or C++ and assembler. We are also in need of some good people, which can pay for our internet connection. This is too hard for us. Please contact Root ([email protected]) and we will make up a webserver (www.hackersnet.net) and our OS. BTW the OS is planned to have name H-NET Wishes OS.

Hackers are good, they hack to help people out by finding bugs/security problems and telling the owner/maker of the script about it.

Crackers/script kiddies are the bad ones, after they hack in they destroy.

You need to learn the difference.

hackers=good
crackers=bad

Got it?

Did you read a damn word I just said.

hackers are good

crackers are the bad ones

There is a difference. I am a hacker myself, I find security bugs in message boards and report them to their makers, then they make them more secure and safer for all.

Crackers are the bad ones, they destroy stuff and cause problems for people.

So you should hate the crackers, not the hackers.

Did you read what this guy has written, this guy says "for underground". If you are finding bugs in websites and then telling them to webmasters, you are not a hacker, you are a bug finder, so you find bugs, you click "report a bug" link in the web site and tell the webmaster that you have found a bug like this and that in their web site he does not think like: What a good hacker. OK? I hate both hackers and crackers. People who are happy with finding cracks of other people's makings are just little creeps who will never be able to see the light in real cracks of nature that give creational imagination to artists and developers... So enough of this meaningless conversation...

There is documentation to prove that hackers and crackers are 2 totally different things it's all over the net.

But it's movies like hackers that give us a bad reputation. They called them hackers when they really are crackers.

And no I am not just a bug finder, I hack through the code and alter it and read it to learn problems. I use my skills to hack for good reasons/causes.

Like this one message board service, they allowed you to enter php into a page, which was very bad because I was able to hack together some code to get all the database info including passwords and would have been able to destroy all boards he hosted. I told him about this security problem I found and it was fixed.

If I can find the articles on the hacker vs. cracker stuff again I will post it.

Chris, it doesn't seem to me that you'll break the bad image of hackers easily. 99% of the population believe what they saw on screen ... Moreover, the same word may have different meaning in the different native languages.

Imho, "hackers" and "crackers" are just labels people stick on their forehead ... just like "l33t" ... labels doesn't mean anything. People do mean something.

Now, what is probably wrong is the idea of calling something "hacker-..." if it is going to give 99% of the population a wrong idea of what's behind the label.
It's like naming your project (.*)nix if it's not a unix-like OS ... or like trying explain people they own
mac OS "ten" and not OSX ...

Btw, it's seems we're drifting far away from OS development. If other moderators agree, i think we should graft this thread to the "general discussion".

Actually, I beleive we should just leave this thread be, no more "I hate hackers" stuff.

If you want to help these guys out post, but don't be putting people down.

The original meaning of a haker is someone with a keen intresst in computing.

Which the became more specific to programming at a lowlevel (All OS programmers).

Then got compleatly misunderstood as people who destory computers. Which is compleatly contradictiong to the original meaning.
