Re: AQUA OS
I don't really want people taking credit for my stuff. For the drivers and less important stuff, sure, because you can find that anywhere and that can help the community if I find a way to optimize it better. But for the graphics, no one needs to know how my graphical style is done to make an OS. They should have their own style, and own way of doing stuff. Plus, it's a lot easier to take credit off of things that you see (graphics and overall user experience), and less things that happen behind the scenes (drivers and stuff).
Re: AQUA OS
You know most open-source licenses protect you from that, right? Open-source != Public Domain. If people use your open-source code in a way that infringes the license, you can legally sue them.obiwac wrote:I don't really want people taking credit for my stuff.
If some of you people keep insisting on having backwards compatibitity with the stone age, we'll have stone tools forever.

Re: AQUA OS
I know about that. But it doesn't feel right to me to release it now. I'd rather keep it to myself for now. If I release it, then there is no turning back. And I don't want to take the risk just yet. Plus, I'm only 12, and I don't really want to deal with this stuff if it goes out hand (which it probably won't, but just incase).
Re: AQUA OS
Is it just me or are the answer options confusing?
- Usually green means yes/ok/etc, here it seems reversed and red means shut down
- If the question is in words shouldn't the answer be in words as well
I guess I also have a problem with the wording of the question. How do you "quit" an OS? What do you exit/return to?

Re: AQUA OS
That is a good point. I never thought of that. I guess my logic was that shutting down a computer is worse than accidentally quitting the prompt. I'll have a think about that. And for the question being in words, that's also a good point, but I personally like it being consistent with the icon on the desktop, and if I replace the icons by words on the desktop, then it might be a bit distracting. And it also means that I don't have to do as many translations for different languages.

Here you are LtG, I have changed the prompt text. I'll have a longer think about the icon colours, but here it is so far.
Btw if you are wondering, the dialog sizes automatically to the length of the text.

well, pretty painting is cool, but what about your OS internals? how it is organized? concepts, "philosophy". Don't you want to at least briefly describe it? i think one, having done something as cool as an OS being able to draw on the screen, would want to talk about it. telling about all the way how it has become what it is.
For me it's quite strange that people don't tell about their work and describe their OSes. just posting screenshots. writing about takes a lot of time, but making short informative descriptions doesn't.
so tell about what your OS is.

Ok, zaval. I'll do it on my website (https://obiwac.wordpress.com/aqua-os/) for the least interesting stuff. I'll post stuff like the drivers here. But not right now, though. In maybe about a week. If you're interested in a certain topic, then post it here. Like how I do the font and stuff like that.
