I'm missing a job title and/or task description. Especially the latter would be welcome.

Sorry folks, I thought I'd receive an email if someone replied.

The task is basically to maintain an "OS-like" real mode codebase written in 16-bit x86 ASM, and gradually redesign it and re-code things in C where feasible. This is for a couple of products that use full-disk encryption, so the code needs to be able to handle standard hardware (non-USB hardware like hard disks is mostly driven using BIOS calls), plus USB (touchscreens, smart cards), and eventually some network hardware, in order to prompt the user for credentials, such as a pasword or a smart card PIN. Then it does a bit of decryption - enough to kickstart the OS loader, which is typically either Windows or GRUB/Ubuntu. It's moving towards network-based authentication as well.

That's the executive summary. Don't worry about everything in the job description - remember employers always have a laundry-list of stuff and they're usually not looking for someone that has 100% of the skills listed.

I work at the company and I have experience with the product(s) in question, so I can answer any other questions you might have.

Frankly, I didn't technically graduate either.

It doesn't really matter, if you've got the right skills, interest and experience. I reckoned I'd find a few people on these boards.

Remember, with job ads, they're often not written by people who really understand the requirements (in this case, I didn't write it, but I'd probably be one of the people interviewing).

My own experience with UEFI is limited to GPT disk labelling (though that'll change soon, I imagine).

If this sounds like something you're interested in, and you want to (are able to) work in London, please do PM me. I think we're probably still hiring for this.
