Hi
Do my eyes need testing or did I really read that in FOURTH the enviroment can basically act as a standalone OS?? This sounds very interesting if it does.
thanks

Fourth - Own OS!!??
Re:Fourth - Own OS!!??
when wired up right, 'forth' can act as a crude OS... "open firmware" is a relatively common forth interpreter on a chip used to boot some systems...
if you happen to have a "new world" mac, try holding "cmd+opt+o+f" during boot.
If you have a sun sparc laying around, the key combo during boot is "stop+a"
Amusing for playing, and useful when you cork the os on one of those machines... I used it for partial recovery when my powerbook's hdd crapped out, before I shipped it off to apple for a new drive
