windows 7 readyboost

well i discovered this great program that sped up my computer very well, but everything i use to monitor it says its not activated even the performance counter reads back saying "0kb/s used" on ever category, ive tried reinstalling ready boost on the device , then reinstalling then restarting, and it still doesnt work. i am using a 4gb sandisk cruizer, formatted with exFAT, is it working and i just dont notice it? or is there soemthing i accidently switched and needs to be set back?


my system specs are pretty bad but a system running from late 2006 running windows 7 ultimate is alright.
512 mb ram
2ghz amd64 codename orleans (i gave u the codename because i forgot the number, +3200, idk) processor
thats the specs that should have something to do with ready boost, if at all
ill be upgrading soon dnt wrry, it scares even me knowing i use that

ReadyBoost needs a fast device (think Firewire or eSATA, not USB) to do it's thing or else it'll either refuse to work on that disk or use it as swap (both of which give little improvement in speed).

In Windows Vista at least, I can use USB 2.0 devices with ReadyBoost for swap space.

There is some advantage to using USB 2.0 over harddrive for swapping small chunks of memory when seek time is far more important than transfer speeds.
