wait, wait.
what sort of training?
like, industry training, or informal stuff?
maybe some specifics would be helpful...

"Do you program in Assembly?" she asked. "NOP," he said.

Wouldn't make any sense.

Re: A open source project problem
it does make sense, if you have a famous project, charge them money if they want to hold a training
Re: A open source project problem
Open source doesn't just mean free as in money but free as in freedom. Freedom to use the software without limitation which by extension includes the use of the software in a training scenario. There is nothing you can do about it, really.

Just to state what ucosty said in a different way. If you put a restriction in a license that forbid education, it wouldn't be considered open source. That is why L4B said it lacked sense.
You would also need to contend with legal jurisdictions where education falls under "fair use." Even nations that only have "fair dealing" still have education exceptions...

Re: A open source project problem
It doesn't matter what you think about it, if it conforms to open source definition, it is open source. I don't comment anything about could licence like that conform to it, I don't want to read it again with magnifying glass.
Re: A open source project problem
I seriously doubt that any kind of software license would be allowed to legally limit a third party's right to provide courses (or books, or support) for that software, OpenSource or not.
IANAL, of course.
IANAL, of course.
Every good solution is obvious once you've found it.

It basically is an application of "freedom of speech". Only if you are bound by a non-disclosure agreement however, your freedom of speech might cost you several thousands in cash.Solar wrote:I seriously doubt that any kind of software license would be allowed to legally limit a third party's right to provide courses.
But NDA is hardly open source.
