How many research-based postgrad positions do you know that are remote? I don't know of any (and I'm a postgrad!)

Regardless, not many universities actually perform research in operating systems; most of those that do research in real-time and safety critical OSes. Honestly, the likelihood of gaining a position in a university in a country in which you are not resident is 0%, so why not look at what Chinese universities are doing?

@OP: I'm not sure how to help you here: most people would, when searching for a university, and seeking out a course, would simply go hopping from one University's website to another.

I can only really think of one University which would go out of its way to provide a high quality OS Development course (more because it would just have to be available, since the entire University is full of a-bunch-a programmers), which is MIT.

And even if they don't you may easily find a group of people in the University who do development for x86, or any other architecture privately, and join them to learn. MIT is like...programmer heaven, the way I see it. Knowledge and skill everywhere. You just have to come out sharp.

Why not look up a highly reputable IT name in your country? (I'm referring to an institution of Tertiary Education; not a commercial OS developer.)

We don't have any company that make OS.

Also, I hate people to ask me to search in google. Because I did a search in google, but just can't find it.

To find out what research is occuring at a university, you sometimes need to manually scour the faculty pages (and *gasp* contact the department). It isn't fun, but if you aren't willing to do that amount of work, then maybe OS research isn't for you.

You may want to heed JamesM's advice though, the university track of operating systems is a narrow road at best (and non-existent at worst).

extremely upset now, I have contacted all the univerisities in hong kong, they either told me no os course can be offer or just don't reply me.

Hi ,
I am not sure of the practice in China , unless you are extremely wealthy you cannot get to a good university by just showing your resume / profile . In my country you need to write entrance exams and there will be interviews as well . Interviews are not that important in many colleges , most important thing is your entrance exam score , if you come in the top 10% or so in the entrance exam you have a good chance getting into a good university .

The point is you need to prove yourself , this is very important everywhere { Not at work though , if you prove that you are very good , your manager wont let you shift to a different team }
