Embedded OS

hello guys,
i just want to know which embedded OS is best suited for developing applications for handheld devices.

well palmos is really nice. i like it the most of the embeded os.
wince mmm. i havnt used the latest version. didnt like trying to program for wince 3.0

havnt used symbion. looks very palmish.

have not tried embedded for qnx/linux/ucos/etc.

i just wanted to know about the various target boards available for the vxWorks and the cost of the x86 target board.

any help appreciated.
