Kube v0.4

Post by kubeos »

Alright, 4 months from my first release. Time for another test run.

Basically the most important things I want to get out of this test are:

1.) Does it boot?
2.) Does it show some files when you issued the 'dir' command
3.) Run 'edit readme.txt' from the root dir and let me know if
it worked.

I know some emulators don't like Kube very much, if at all. But I'm
not coding this for emulators. I'm still not 100% sure I even want
multitasking, but if things seem to work ok then I may keep working
with the multitasking version.

Couldn't resist this one. I played around in qemu and Bochs as I don't have physical floppy drives.

qemu 0.9 -- Booted, although a spurious 'A' appeared at the command prompt and I couldn't do anything else. It would not let me input anything.

Bochs 2.4-FINAL -- Booted fine, bit slow as expected with Bochs. I was able to run edit readme.txt, dir etc with no problems. Couldn't find a fault to be honest.

Keep up the good work. Sorry I'm unable to test on RH at the moment.

Cheers

Tested on real hardware (Dione), no problems (didn't try installing though)

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend installing to anyone yet... Especially if you value anything on the hard drive. But thanks for the replies. I've tested it on a few real computers, so far no problems. Still got two more to try if I get a chance later.
