He is right, you know. It's still not yet Jan. 6 at 'midnight'. :-k It's not his fault that 'midnight' is slightly ambiguous...

I think that a deadline of 12:01am makes a lot more sense than the rather ambiguous 'midnight'. Most people would assume "Jan 6th at midnight" to actually mean 12:00am Jan 7th, I guess... but 12:01am Jan 6th isn't as mistakable. If only because of this, I'd say accept the entry. :)

Also, it shouldn't be a big deal anyways. This isn't a 'for-profit' competition or something similar, it's just good fun, so I say "no harm, no foul".

can we do another 512-byte competition I can play starwars (well a few notes) with the PC speaker from boot-time, tested in qemu ready now (or should I just post-it)
there are only 1 0 types of people in the world, (un)fortunately Base 2 allows for a lot more than just 0 and 1

Dohh.. Apparently I managed to miss the third 512 byte compo !!! grrr

Anyway congrats to all entries, especially Dex who won..

In case there's a fourth 512 byte sector compo, I've still got my entry ready and waiting...
(summary : requires 8088 or better; no BIOS access; debugger+mem dumper; can build as ROM extension or floppy sector; run in qemu+real hardware)

If I enter the next 512 competition, I'm going to attempt to write my OS in hex. The ability to know that opcodes are also numbers and to be able to do amazing self-code modifying tricks like adding 1 to an opcode to affect another register. I think it would be amazing if I could do that... and the size of the OS could be so small in theory..
