Re: Need people who are dedicated to programming
Everybody here is either working on their own project, or learning how to. You're not going to find any volunteers until you have something significant to show (like a functioning operating system). Get to work.

Read this because you fall under 'Community Projects'
Why would we when we have our own projects to do? What makes your project better than ours?
Damn. lollynoob beat me to it...
But yes, I agree, you're gonna have to do some serious work. You'd need something really good before people will think about joining.

Re: Need people who are dedicated to programming
There aren't that many sites out there with people who actually develop operating systems.
If you want anyone to consider it, you're going to have to tell us more.

More like, what can it do? And what do you want it to be able to do? What are your design plans?

Re: Need people who are dedicated to programming
wow, a bit OT, but I just realized how pathetic the 'Commercial OS' section in the "beginner mistakes" is. What a pile of crap.
A: The most successful OS's are not sprung from a lack of design and inspiration, they are sprung from a 'need' or a truly innovative idea.
B: IMHO the 'best' OS's fail due to a lack of true motivation on the designers behalf.
Sorry for the interruption.
Anyways, getting people to join your project will be extremely hard to do, especially with very little accomplishments to show so far. Also, a somewhat innovative or unique design would be nice as it's always best to get people together and 'not' reinvent the wheel or just extend one of the tutorials.

Re: Need people who are dedicated to programming
Hey you just made the first newbies mistake. I've done it my self. Look, take Dexos for example. That is an example of an operating system that other developers work on it. I've even use it myself. But the point that you need soemthing that is big and great with lot of features will cool and sleak desgin. My oprating system is not like that yet. You are not sorry. Anyway it is very hard to find site like this trust me. Would a bisness person would inveset money in a company that does not make profit or loss profit. NOOO! You just need to work your better os and try again later when it is very cool and a worthy investment
I rest my case.
I rest my case.

01000101 is right that operating systems, in terms of market success, have to fill a 'need'. Microsoft grabbed a sizeable chunk of the business computing market share in the late '80s, and many users wanted to run the same software at home as they did at work. After all, if their company used DOS/Windows, then surely it's great for home users too?
And it ended up being "good enough". Sure, it was unstable and riddled with security problems, but Joe Average was writing his letters, playing his games and messing around on the interwebs. It did an adequate job. The Amiga was effectively dead by the late '90s, Apple was on its death bed too and widely perceived as too obscure and expensive, while Linux had only the geek mindshare.
BeOS was an opportunity to bring something genuinely fresh to the computing world, but Microsoft's strongarming tactics won the day:

Microsoft is a very successful, bullish company. Yet it gave the cash-strapped Be Inc. $23m to avoid being challenged in the courts. Although legally Microsoft didn't accept any wrongdoing, the company's muscle flexed in many, many ways across the industry to prevent BeOS from gaining a foothold.
That's capitalism -- I don't harbour resentment to Microsoft for always wanting to win. But great OSes won't necessarily flourish when there's a very powerful player in the game.

Re: Need people who are dedicated to programming
That's not the point. I even have problems to and i need help and in the same bin. They said that we don't want to code everything out for ya and that is ture in a way. But still i am by by self and my operating system is the tash bin which mean that people will not use it.
Re: Need people who are dedicated to programming
