I'm only kidding, but hey I wrote a AJAX script that allows me to keep track of how many times my blog posts (at blogger) have been hit. You would need a web space to host my PERL script and that's it. You can call it from any html page you want. I even have a white list for mine, so I can determine who can and cannot use it. Let me know if you are interested.

I use Google analytics for hit analysis, the amount of information you get is amasing (everything from how many visitors to how many unique visitors to what browser and operating system each visitor was using, and what pages they visited, and by which source they came from)

I could easily code all that into my PERL script, but I don't want to know all that information about the people who read my blog. I suppose that one could take my script and extend it to do whatever they wanted and through this you have more power over what you return and how you return it. For example, I wrote a webmon for my website and it is a standalone application which uses Google Maps and another script I wrote like my PERL script (described above) to plot the points I receive from my gps-location code. I then draw lines from those points to the point in which I hardcoded on my map (which is the gps location of my web server). I then calculate the distance from them to me as well as other statistical calculations used for tracking where my downloads go, etc. It is all visually based and I can even zoom in and view their rough location from satellite. It's pretty cool.

OK, that's pretty cool, however, useless information (most people don't want that much information, but do want to know where their users are coming from). But Google does provide another way to display the same information, it uses a map with different colors to show the amount of users from that country).
EDIT: Just looked and Google goes further than the country level. it goes to the city level.
