Honestly, solar -- that sounds a little bit funny coming from you. :wink:

@Omega:
he dude take a moment to reflect on the things you say in this thread. You start complaining about the WIKI and that it will be growing so you cannot find stuff. I personally do not agree, but you are allowed to have your opinion and that is fine by me. However you also say that the WIKI will be bloated and yet you seem to be spamming the forum with ridiculous messages in very bad German which give me headaches and Solar even more i guess.

In other words, if you like OSDeving and maybe this forum then please keep the posts regarding OSDeving, or in this forum the WIKI, of a certain quality. Making less serious post will tend to make people regard you as less serious.

@alboin:
Your Dutch sucks and after 1234 posts you should know better then to reply nonsense in any thread but General Ramblings.

That explains why I averaged a C in German. Seriously, we were just taking a break from being serious. If you look around you will see posts where even Mods post just to joke around, so it isn't a big deal to make a playful post especially once a thread is completely dead. Look even you making a post to tell us to "grow up" is even a waste if technically speaking, but you are entitled to your own opinion as well. As a side note I am a very non-conformist, non-protocol type of person. I only get serious when I code or am pissed off, so it is a good thing when I am being playful because I am a jerk when I am not, hell I don't even like myself when I am being serious. What is more annoying bad German or a bad attitude? I like to idle at around 1500 RPMS if I can. ;)

Ah well, semi-serious then:
Ouch, das ist nicht sehr gut, ja? :)
Ouch -> Au.

AFAIK, in English "..., is it?" expresses an expectation to receive agreement in the negative ("no, it isn't"). In German "..., ja?" marks an expectation to receive agreement in the positive. "..., oder?" would have been correct.
Ich bin beer getrunken!!
You are beer drunk?

"Ich habe Bier getrunken."

Oh, and don't drink and post. ;-)
Wer ist das Badezimmer?
Who is the restroom?

"Wo ist das Badezimmer?"

We don't auto-lock or auto-delete threads so they are never dead. Old thread get brought back up all the time. I'd rather see someone bring back an old thread before starting a new thread if possible. You've got to keep in mind that some people get busy with other stuff sometimes for months. When they come back they try to read the old threads. You brought up a really good point with the wiki the wiki thread even if the title was a little over the top. I find value in the thread you started and it's value is not gone yet. Some people that haven't read the kill the wiki thread wouldn't bother to comment on the subject now because the entire third page was just foreign language stuff. Also when I start the project to fix the points you mentioned I would like to reference the kill the wiki thread.

If you didn't notice os64dev is a moderator, instead of pressing any of the moderation button (like I'm about to do) he just mentions what has gone wrong with the thread. Messages with jokes, etc, are ok as long as the thread stays on topic. Most of the mods here actually try to avoid moderating people. What makes you have more of a bad attitude? Having your messages moved to different forums by other people or having to click on the General Ramblings forum before starting off topic messages? The mods are here because people get unhappy when the signal to noise ratio becomes poor. Sometimes we mods seem annoying but before the mods there really was a lot of complaining about the lack of moderation.

BTW, if you want practically no moderation and off topic conversation mixed with on topic the #osdev channel on irc.freenode.net is an interesting place sometimes.

Wow, really? What I said here actually made a difference? I thought I was just being ignored by you guys. I'm sorry Chase, I didn't realize that threads worked this way here. I just assumed once people stopped talking about it, it was done, but I see what you are saying. You can delete the posts I made that went off topic in this thread if you like. I just thought this issue was dead and gone.

Solar: Thank you for correcting that. I could have used you as a friend a couple semesters back man. It is Wo and habe, right!! I am sorry, it has been so long since I studied your language that I just butchered it. It is a beautiful language btw. It sounds rough but it has a lot of ways to express yourself, so it is clear the German people are very articulate. It makes me proud to be of German descent.

Anyway, I am sorry to the group for messing around too much.

General Ramblings is not for nonsense, actually, it is for, ramblings. They still have some meaning. Now the test forum, this kind of thread belongs in the test forum. (Or did.) And yes, I know my Dutch sucks.

I know I'm in the wrong here, but nevertheless, aren't we blowing this just a tad out of proportion? (Deleting the posts would have worked fine, IMHO.) Five small off topic posts somehow turns into a whipping post?
