Useless or...?

Post by Zacariaz »

I have just inherited a playstation 2, which would be nice if it wasn't for the fact that I don't have a tv. The only display in my possession is my laptop display, and I'm not going to dismantle my laptop. (don't think it could work either)

Anyway, now I have it, so I was wondering if it could be used for something useful, even though I haven't got a tv. I mean, it is a computer none the less. Could it be used as some sort of server or...?

It is kinda sad though. I got all these games which I never got to play before because I couldn't afford them, but I can't play them!

IIRC, there are version of linux that are able to run on the PS2.

Your laptop doesn't have any video inputs? At my local computer store they sold (Yes, they closed... :( ) USB video in connectors.

I run my ps2 though my pc,

just get end connector coverter and plug it into the the video in port.

its even easy if you have a tv card as you dont need the end connector converters. takes a little bit to tune it in properly tho.

Well, I don't have video in, but if an usb thingy is available, that won't be a problem.

I'll look into it, could be kinda cool messing around with it.

TV cards for the PC are a good option. Second hand TV's too :)

I think my biggest problem is the fact that I'm running linux, oh yes, and that I can't seem to find the right hardware, at least not at a reasonable price.
