A few years ago, I received volume 1. I never got the other two volumes.
Last weekend I ordered all the manuals again. This time not by a web-form but by e-mail, [email protected]
I requested:

- SKU #253666, Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer's Manual Volume 2A: Instruction Set Reference, A-M
- SKU #253667, Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer's Manual Volume 2B: Instruction Set Reference, N-Z
- SKU #253668, Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer's Manual Volume 3A: System Programming Guide
- SKU #253669, Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer's Manual Volume 3B: System Programming Guide
- SKU #248966, Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Optimization Reference Manual
I didn't get any confirmation yet.

I just re-ordered the instruction manuals as something (unsure of what) got spilled on them.
I already got my confirmation after two days.

It's because first off, books have a certain sentimental quality to them. Second, you can take books anywhere, you can write on them (notes), they're more energy- efficient (if read in daylight: a computer uses about as much power as a 100W light bulb), they are easier on the eyes, they DON'T NEED A COMPUTER!. I'm a student in high school so I'm like never at the computer. It's really nice to be able to whip a book out when I'm waiting for the class to finish. You can't do that with a PDF.jal wrote:So what's this obsession with having paper manuals? Got a bookcase that's too empty? Man, all the time waisted when leafing through paper while a simple search in a PDF produces instant results...

And about the environment...
Something like 80+% of our oxygen is produced by plankton and algae in the oceans, but we aren't any concerned about them, are we? We don't mind dumping garbage into the seas, just as long as our precious trees don't suffer. Yes, I think burning of the rain forests should stop. Yes, I like trees. But if your concern is CO2, get your priorities straight and let's stop dumping nuclear waste into the oceans (in some countries, at least). That's how nasty things like Godzilla form...
Cheers

True, but these are manuals, used for programming. They are tools, not works of art.TheDragon wrote:It's because first off, books have a certain sentimental quality to them.
You obviously have never had to carry the full printout of all Intel manuals around. Think 'cart' more than 'bag'.Second, you can take books anywhere
Yes, and when a new revision comes out, all the notes can be thrown away, or you have two revisions to consult every time.you can write on them (notes)
When you are using the Intel manuals - as a reference guide when programming - that computer is already on anyway.they're more energy- efficient (if read in daylight: a computer uses about as much power as a 100W light bulb), they are easier on the eyes, they DON'T NEED A COMPUTER!.
You could cary a small netbook around. Although, if there aren't any computers at your school, you probably live in an underpriviliged part of the world anyway...I'm a student in high school so I'm like never at the computer.
You can if you have netbook, or a document reader. It's really nice to be able to whip a book out when I'm waiting for the class to finish. You can't do that with a PDF.
This is not the right place for random, off-topic ranting. And about the environment...
Indeed. I heard Godzilla destroyed large parts of New York not too many years ago.let's stop dumping nuclear waste into the oceans (in some countries, at least). That's how nasty things like Godzilla form...

Nope.Masterkiller wrote:I know it is an offtopic but... is there a chance to order AMD manuals? I preffer them
They don't offer it, I sent an email back in August..
My original question was if they had something similar to Intel's literature fulfilment program, it was nagging me because they refer to their books by order number.. which I believed to be strange.AMD Employee wrote:Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting AMD Customer Care,
We thank you for your interest however we no longer provide hard copies of documentation.

They also say "no longer", indicating they may have done so in the past... we shall never know for sure.
