Yeah, have fun. There's not much to do out here, but there's always hiking and rock climbing at the Joshua Tree National Park.

p.s. I live in the Mojave :-)

I'll keep an eye out. If you see a random teen waving at you in Yucca, it'll probably be me. :-)

Other notable places to check out: Beatnik cafe, Wal-Mart (3rd biggest thing out here), Home Depot (2nd biggest thing), the local broomcloset-sized computer store, and, while you're at the park, Indian Cove and 49 Palms.

Edit: What!? I only have 7 posts!?

I started reading this thread... and decided to lookup the Mojave Desert, 30 mintues later, and somehow I ended up on the "Ghost Towns" page. :?

This is why I can't visit Wikipedia, I end up getting lost & distracted..

Hey, I'm back!
The trip was...interesting......
Day 1:
We went into Joshua Tree NP and camped at Indian Cove. Lots of rocks to climb! :D

Day 2:
Our Alternator in our truck went out. We spent the morning at the Autozone in 29 palms, while I helped my dad replace it. It shouldn't have taken long, but we spent an hour getting a rusty bolt out. Then we camped in a wash on Kelbaker road, just off Route 66

Day 3:
We went to Kelso Dunes. Fun, but my sister decided that she didn't want to climb them, so she stayed in th car while the rest of us climbed them. Then we camped at an abandoned mine (Vulcan mine), and found lots of Iron.

Day 4:
We went to some caverns and looked at them, then we drove to up a road and camped in a little place with trees (green ones, a little oasis where there had been a big fire).

Day 5:
Drive 11 hours to get back the the Bay Area.
