should we create an OS development magazine?

Intermediate to Advanced, any NOOB that would read the magazine should start out with something basic to before going to things like ASM and C. For quantum mechanics, be as advanced as you want, at least thats what I would do. The noob should become a good highlevel programmer before coming to the mag, that's what we're aimed at anyway, right?

@Alboin: great work on the setup! I like it.
I just posted a magazine name thread, so go vote if you want your say in the magazine title!
Now that we have a guideline for what to write about, some of the writers can get started on some rough drafts.
Alboin, we need more than just that one (paging) article as the core. unless it is a verrry long article.

Assume the readers are anywhere from low-level OS designers to .NET Visualx developers. Lets go ahead and rule out the 'extremely new' group as we will just end up repeating ourselves too much. Lets keep the magazine OS neutral as well, no "LINUX RAWX" or any pro-x pages. Remember, even if you don't like Windows or Linux or Solaris or whatever, they still have alot of traffic in the world and some of the developers reading the magazine probably don't want to hear their OS of choice get trashed on.

Mine too.Solar wrote:Now it starts getting real strange. I know about the excitement when thinking about a shiny new project, but ask yourself: What would a magazine on OS development bring to OSDev.org that is not already covered by the forum and the Wiki?Alboin wrote:EDIT: I wonder, could it be hosted here?
And facing the facts, >75% of the OS-related traffic here is, essentially, programming / toolchain basics. Most of the really interesting discussions happened long ago, is my personal impression.

We can start advertising once we have something to advertise.
I've got a verry basic layout for the magazine website. I need graphics though. =(
