Chess
playing chess is my other hobby ....
see ...
! - => Good move
!! = => Very good Move
? = => bad move
?? = => very bad move
!? =
=> blunder
Simple Games
1 e4 - e5
2 B-c4 - d6
3 Q-f3
Bad move .. this sort of move is very common in beginners ... the adversary can very easily obtain and advantage by chasing the queen
... - a6 Very bad move
4 Q - f7 Check Mate
This is the famous scholars mate ....
Now there is fools mate
1 f6
Exposing the king side is seldom good
... e5
2g4 - Q-h4 Check mate
Famous e4 openings
1 .Scotch Game
1) e4 - e5
2) Nf3 - Nc6
3) d4 ....
This is the famous scotch game ... This is actually just a paper snake ... It is not promosing as it looks like
2 . Ruy Lopez
1) e4 - e5
2) Nf3 - Nc6
3) Bb5
This bishop move leaves black under lasting pressure ... It threatens to threaten ... Initial threat is after White captures the Knight ... It can take the pawn at e5 .. Later the game tranposes into a Ruy Lopez style K-side attack ...
3 . Guico Piano or the Italian Game
1. e4 - e5
2 NF3 - Nc6
3 BC4 - BC5
This is my personal choice ... It usually leads to a quiet game .. But white always maintains a slight edge in position .. This is the safest choice
4) Evans Gambit
More enterprising version of the Guico Piano
1. e4 - e5
2. Nf3 - NC6
3 . BC4 - Bc5
4 b4 ---
Safer is to play B-b6 (for black)
5) Kings Gambit
I think with proper defense neither of the sides can boast of an advantage ..
1) e4 - e5
2) f4
6) Philador Defense
1) e4 - e5
2) Nf3 - d6
Shutting off the Kb gives black no advantage .. he is doomed with a cramp game ...
7) French Defense
(My personal Favorite)
1 e4 - e6
This blocks blacks QB .. but this defense provides many counter attacking possibilites
Sicillian Defence
1 e4 - c5
Creates an unbalanced game -- very complex defense
9) Caro - Caan Defense
Good Defense -- gives black a freer game but gives less counter attacking chances than the french defense
1e4 c6
10) Domiano Defense
Sure to lose against a good strong opponent .. Weakening the king - side gives black no advantage
1e4 f6
11 ) Pirc Defense
Modern and complicated Defense
1 e4 - d6 .. Some masters make a fool of novices by first playing philador and then transposing into a variation of pirc defense
Thats all Folks .. Looney Tunes

Well ....
Well ... you all might have heard the sad news that Bobby Fisher one of the greatest Champion this planet have ever witnessed passed away recently ... He is the only American (other than Paul Morphy in romantic ages of chess) to make such a huge impact in World Chess ...

hmm after looked at his profile, i like him so much, anti-2J-1A.

Although i do not personally agree with him ..., Bobby Fischer was a brilliant player ... I have played over the game between Fischer and Donald Byrne atleast 2 times (Do not get me wrong .. i mean i just watched the game on my chessboard ) during my school days ... I cant stop dreaming about the genius of Bobby Fischer for a week after that ... The game is a Gem ... a real treat ) .... I have enormous respect for soviets ... for lots of reasons ...
1) Most of the chess champions are from Russia ... (Most people here(India) are crazy about a wretched game called cricket ... Other games are not getting required importance ... Chess was in fact discovered in India(land of all exotic and incomprehensible ideas) ... Reached Europe through Arabs ... Chess is a royal game ..truly royal ) ...
2) Problems in General Physics by IE Irodov :- It is a gem of a book .. Solving problems in this book gave me critical insights into some fundamental physics concepts ( Gee i accept i haven't solved all the problems yet )
also the Dutch for
1) E W Dijikstra ..
2) Max Euwe( pronounced Erver) - my Guru ... One should read .. the road to chess mastery by Max Euwe .. Gem of a book
also the great german mathamatecian Carl F Gauss ...

I like Chess, but there is an even more complex game called Go. Don't know why, but I really suck at it for some reason.
