1. I guess a mixture of assembly and C/C++ must be involved at some point. As far as I am aware, they use their own in-house tools for everything, so when I say C/C++, I certainly don't mean they are using GCC on Cygwin!

2. I've no idea.

3. Read up from 3 places. The forum (which you have already found), The wiki and http://www.osdever.net/ . There are other places and books, but you will find links to most of what you need here (and tutorials for the early stages).

@mods: Topic needs moving to general forum?

Cheers,
Adam

[edit]Oh - and I'm not answering the poll. You will find it's a good way to start a flame war and the only sensible answer is really 'it depends'. Nice descriptive topic title, by the way  [/edit]

I don't think he believes any other OS's exist. Hey, it could have been worse:
"Pick your favourite OS:
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista"

How about:

"Windows Vista Home Basic"
"Windows Vista Home Premium"?

Anyone else want to make the thread even more extreme :D ? Sorry - It's probably wearing a bit thin now.

Poll:

Is the Flip3D feature in Vista either (a) "the most revolutionary feature ever to come into modern computing environments" or (b) "An amazing invention, well ahead of the market and well worth patenting in case those slimy MacOS and Linux guys try to steal it grrrr"

Ok,

Here's the problem for me. What do you mean by better? I have never owned an Apple Maggotbox and have no intention of doing so - from this point of view, NT is 'better', but some of the other areas that could make an OS better are:

1) Ease of use for OS devving.
2) Ease of use for end users who want to word process?
3) Better for artists?
4) Better for gaming?
5) Better software compatibility?

..and a million other things. What are your criteria for one to be better than the other?

Cheers,
Adam

[edit]Oh, and don't shout please. Learn to ask decent questions respectfully.[/edit]

[edit2]os64dev got there first![/edit2]

Ok, this is getting annoying, FreeVista. Clearly you cannot talk normally and feel the need to shout at people if they don't get your point. I think more then one person here has pointed this out to you. So please adjust your attitude.

Personally i would have banned you from this forum but we let the moderators decide on that one.

I think there's something lurking in the dungeons... might it be a troll? (HINT) 8)

Could you keep a bit of respect when talking to people that spend their free time helping you out? Next time somebody opens a pointless thread and starts shouting in the second post, I'm going to make sure you get a ban.
