Whats the policy on profanity in this forum?

But seriously, as with the majority of people who blindly click "I Agree" without reading the rules/clauses that bind you upon registration, you have thus missed/ignored the following information...

Everything in moderation. If you occasionally (ie. barely at all.) use d*mn, or the like, then you should be fine.

I think the rule is there for when you run into these people who use f**k as every other word. It's simply foolish. How can you possibly voice your idea when you apparently have a vocabulary of 12 words? You look stupid, and your idea looks stupid.

What English is becoming is simply incredible. I've heard of college students who have written papers using IM grammar.

What is that!? Seriously, IMHO, that has no place anywhere, not even IM.

I'm sorry, I'm a bit of a grammar fanatic.

I agree, I'm not a fan of "teen talk" - It's very annoying.. yet sadly very common..

So if you do have the urge to use slang/profanity, think twice about how it might effect the communities opinion of you and your ideas..

Note#0: It does occasionally slip into conversations.. that's just life.. we get it..

Note#1: The forum favourites are RTFM and STFW as of 2007, I'm sure it'll change..

Note#2: Messages entirely in CAPS are discouraged.. and may also be considered evil by many..

Note#3: As Alboin said, "lol i no no how 2 spk eng!!!!" is also discouraged..

I'm much the same, when it comes to grammar. People only get blocked by me on IM for two reasons: Having a MySpace, and not using correct grammar.

The real limit does come when it's not possible for people to understand you. The whole point of a language is that it aids communication between people, not hinder it. And on a global forum such as this one, we have to use standard (British/American) English, because that's the most common thing there is.

Is that from your home network or your company/school? Why would you install a filtering proxy on your home network?

Home, because home is the only place I have at the moment to learn how to use a server and the utilities that come with it (still in high school).

By the way, I built that version of squidGuard from source in Cygwin, I never actually fully comprehended how useful Cygwin was until I actually was able to run a *nix program on Windows
