Personally I'm not bothered with the fact that hover functions are used, only the fact that it looks noobish for being square, and odd for the color being out of harmony with the rest of the page.JamesM wrote:The effect looks quite good.
If he did that in my class I would be obliged to ignore my subjectivity and give some bonus points. However, I still think that its the details that give it a professional look (or ruin it).

I teach computer science at university. Depending on the type of assignment you can occasionally score bonus points for adding functionally that was not originally required. On-hover's would fall into that category and independent of how well it is implemented, you earn a few percent extra for the effort. (consider it encouragement)
If I would be teaching arts, I'd look at the total picture and not bother with any unneeded functionality. In that case, I'd notice a nicely designed site with horribly ugly hyperlinks, where it would look better without the hover. In that case I'd subtract points from the style counter instead of adding them.

Actually, Computer GraphicsFirst, I make the assumption that you run a webdev class.

Google pages offers several options for look, and I choose that one because it looks the best.
Also, I will post the OS, and it's coming along. I just wanted a new web host because my old one had lots of ads.
