I just went on a 9 day Backpacking trip in the Rae Lakes Basin in Sequoia National Park. It was beautiful. We hiked 50 miles in 7 days, climbed to 12,000 feet, etc...
So, if anyone else likes the outdoors, please share stories and opinions here...

There's nothing bad with a hike out in the wild. *g*. Bugs don't bother me. If they try to take a sip of my sap, they learn quickly that this ain't healhy for them. Well, for the tiniest of time, they do. what bothers me is when it's hot outside - I don't need extra heat, I'm producing enough energy myself to stay warm and cosy despite the chilliest air.

geez you guys!
I find that if the weather is right, a stroll through the woods will help me solve bug in problems in my OS by getting away from everything.

I once went for a 7-day walk (80km... so around 50 miles I guess) through Cradle Mountain - Lake St. Claire National Park. Awesome is an understatement.

Living in Houston I'd probably have a heatstroke if I went backpacking. Besides there isn't anywhere to really go to. But I just got back from Denver, Colorado and went up in the Rocky mountains as much as I could. If I lived there I'd be going all the time (and probably would be in much better shape).
