Yes we use water in cars because it has a greater heat capacity and therefore will take more heat away from the engine. Exactly right. But car engines usually don't have any electronics that are going to short out so they can use water. The people in one article I read were successful in cooling a computer with distilled water. The only problem is that distilled water has a much greater chance of having free ions that will short out the computer.

Well according to the article 5 minutes. Well not really because the water is still distilled. It's just that some of the free ions that are present in the distilled water cause the circuit to short out.
