Location: <-- Tiverton, Devon, UK
Languages: I'm afraid that I only speak English fluently (the British seem to have a reputation for not bothering to learn any other languages - just go to a Spanish holiday resort and speak loader and louder until someone understands what you are on about). I have learned a little French and German before, but haven't been outside England for years.

Of the 12 people that have posted as I start typing this (if I counted correctly), 3 speak Dutch and one is learning? Wow . What's up with that?

Location: The Netherlands
Languages: Dutch, English, and bad German. (I sometimes have the feeling my English is better than my Dutch even though the latter is my native tongue, but that may depend on the subject of the conversation. Though I think my English pronunciation probably sucks :P)

os64dev: If you live in Best why do you know Frisian? Is that where you or your family come from or something?

A lot of non-native English speakers seem better at written English than the English (or Americans, or Australians or...). I guess if its not your native language you are forced to think about the structure of what you are saying a bit - of course this is not universal!

I'm Italian. I come from Naples.
Maybe I'm the only Italian in this forum!

They don't teach us English in school very well. We get 1 whole year of grammar and thats it. Most of the literature we read in high school is foreign. In my state they give us a writing test to test our abilities to write essays and at my school only 40% of the people taking the test passed. And have you ever listened to rap. No wonder non of us Americans can talk or write.

I know. I'm disgusted at how some people speak. It's just poor in every meaning of the word. On one occasion I listened to a group of people, and counted how many times they used the word f**k. I found that they used the word 3-5 times every 5 minutes. (That's not even taking into consideration every other profanity they used.) It's as if they have a vocabulary of 25 words.

I grew up here, the road is named after my Uncle. Moved out in a house down the road (same road at end) for about two years.

Sorry, when I try to speak in English, I have some of the Scottish/German accent. You know, ... English pronouncation is too "soft" :)

Môžem slobodne prehlásiť, že som tu len jediný Slovák !
(I can freely say, that I'm only one Slovakian here on this forum! :D)

No, no. Not how the words are pronounced, but the actual content. Moreover, the people I'm referring to are all native English speakers.

I can't really complain about someone who doesn't speak English as a first tongue. ;)

Absolutely agree!

When I am able to hold an intelligible conversation on a Slovakian OS Dev forum, I'll start complaining about non-native English speaker's grammar :)
