looks like someone has used the wiki to munge the osfaq. its well and truly dead. seems dead on the link table which is where the mysqldump dies.. something is not right with the DB.. lucky i did a dump just yesterday!! shesh. timing.

since the db is munged i cant get a proper access to it to drop all the tables. eesh..

so im working on it... phpmyadmin refuses to connect to the wiki DB.. aaargh... gimme time dagnabbit.

have fixed it. PITA tho. crappy mysql. bleah.

any info added since yesterday about 14:00 GMT (18th sep). will not be there anymore...

again the DB gt munged. agrrrrrrr.

so i restored the dump from the above date.
sorry folks. something is sure funky with mysql...

I have a backup from September 20th. If you want it, I can mail it to you, or upload it somewhere when I get home in 10 hours or so.

Any hint on whether it's a bug, vandalism, or unrelated issue?

the mysql dump/restore is easy. ive never had to 'restore' from the wiki dump mechanism.

im not sure what the problem is. but something is going to town on the 'link' table, which in my db is wiki136_link table. its basically two columns of numbers. both indexed. im leaning to corruption as otherwise youd have to add millions of millions of links to the table to cause it to slowdown BUT mysql wont even do a select * on the table... which is why i think its corrupted rather than spammed....

mysql serves its purpose but ive never really liked it much. such is life! its only a tiny wiki for crying out loud.

I don't have access to the MySQL, so all I have is the Wiki snapshot. Restoring that is rather easy: Empty all Wiki tables, and unpack the ZIP to the /pgsrc directory of the Wiki. The next visit to the Wiki will load all the pages from /pgsrc and set up the tables.

As a nice aside, that allows you to do whatever you want to the MySQL (like, renaming the tables etc.), as the Wiki dump is completely independent from that.

seems that a page i recently posted about accelerated GFX cards was lost in the process ... if anyone has a copy of it somewhere ...
