Cmos Chip

A very odd thing happend today. As I was working on my OS I decided to test it an a few of my computers.486 worked fine, 586 worked fine but when i got to my Celeron Machine it froze after a bit of troubleshooting i found that this error occured when i read the time from my cmos chip. Any idea why this would happen?

except that with celerons, some boards began to replace the ol' good CMOS/battery stuff with a flash chip, i dunno ...

What about an I/O delay problem ?
