This really isn't the forum for questions like that... this is about os development, not "which OS is better"
All I'll say is, my laptop from university has Win2000 Pro on it and _it sucks_! About twice a week I get a "winlogin.exe has generated errors" and the computer reboots (this is after I type in my password and pretty enter!!! The system hasn't even started, and it's already failing? Com'on!!!)

I think the only difference we should concern ourselves
with here is just observing what the different develpment
targets have done to the finished product.
Windows has for the most part always put user interface design
first, while this has made it popular with the average consumer
I'm sure you've heard about how stable it is.
Unices take the oppisite aproach.
You have to ask yourself fo I want to be able to sit my
Grandmother in front of my OS. Or would I be ok with my OS
running my life support machine at a hospital.
THEN you start coding....
