How many here have OS devleopment as a career? I'm guessing for most it's a hobby.

I'm trying to find my place for a future career in some aspect of computer science and so far I havn't found it. I'm also not too sure how promising OS dev is as a career. Can anyone elaborate on this?

I hope that for some of us osdev can be a career in the future... for me, now, Im only a student and osdev is only a wonderful hobby...
I don't think that find a job like this can be so easy... especially today. Maybe a way to do this kind of job could be the didactic career...

Embedded software development is a more likely career. It's like mini OS development: because the market isn't dominated by the big desktop/server players, there's much more diversity, and more chance of doing something you enjoy.
